Question:

Can you get from Lake Murray to Lake Greenwood by boat?

The lakes are in South Carolina and I think are connected by the Saluda River. We have a 27' Maxum and were wondering if it's possible to navigate the river in this boat.

  1. Down load Google Earth satellite imagery and zoom out to about 50 Miles or so, you will see the actual lakes and river,s you will be able to transfer the coordinates onto your hand held GPS and get to were you need to go , it wont give you the depth of the rivers.

  2. Does not look like it.  Why would you want to?  There is a dam at the south end of Greenwood.  The creek to Murray meanders for miles and is about as wide and the two lane roads.  you would be better off trailering down 39 to 378.

  3. This site may have maps that will help you, though you have to pay for them.  Also, ask at marinas or boatyards in your area.  For sure someone there will know.

  4. Absolutely Not:: The river might be the same but it is not navigable. Trailering is the only way. The only lakes in South Caroline that are connected for boating is the Santee-Copper lakes, Lake Marion and Lake Moutire. They are connected be the diversion canal.
