Can you get high on Nyquil (or Dayquil)?

I recently heard something about teens and abuse of cough syrups and other over the counter drugs. this a concern for a father of a 13 and 15 year old.

These rumors aren't made to trick kids into killing themselves. The drug in Nyquil and Dayquil and Tussin is DXM; a highly potent and extremely dangerous psychedelic chemical that induces depersonalization and paranoia, more like ketamine or PCP than marijuana or LSD or Mushrooms. You should not try this. It is extremely uncomfortable and is not fun.



People don't make up rumors about being able to get fucked up just to put other kids six feet deep. You should seriously be ashamed of yourself for accusing children of things like this. It was, after all, probably your generation that first synthesized the compound. You are where the propaganda and bullshit wars on drugs begin. You are where drugs lost all educational value and turned into a cheap thrill for a weekend warrior. Learn.
