Can you get in trouble if you report Iphone 3G's on your account lost/stolen and then sell them on ebay?

I heard that At&t tracks serial numbers and tries to track down how the current user got their Iphone. It can possibly lead to an arrest. Is that true?

  1. It would be insurance fraud and when the person goes to activate it they may have problems.  I don't know if you can get away with it.  Everything is very strict reguarding iphones.


  2. yeah u can my sis tried to report one stolen to get the charges took off her bill and after that she tried to reactive it for me and she got in alot of trouble but that was one she kept if it is sold they will track the number of the phone to the one who buys it and if the say i got it from this person on ebay they will go to u and u could end up going to jail so no not smart if u want to get rid of it deactivate it sell it and then if u want another one buy new with what u sold the old one for
