Can you get insurance that covers you if any of your other insurance policies don't cover you?

Kind of like a gap insurance.

So if your roof blows off in a storm and your housing insurance company says your not covered because there's a week in the month, then you fall back on your 'Gap Insurance'

  1. Just to be clear, there is a product called gap insurance, but it's nothing to do with what you are asking.

The short answer to your question is no, why would there be.

Using your example you'd buy insurance that covers all risks to your roof even if there is a week in the month.

I think I kind of get what you're saying in that you want something where you can be 100% sure that you are covered against all risks regardless of terms and conditions which apply to standard policies.

I can appreciate this, but short of getting a bespoke policy covering just your house (which would obviously be very expensive) I'm afraid you're stuck with the bog standard cover and exclusions.

If you have a specific concern, I have no doubt that could be addressed, but a catch all policy "I don't know what it is, but I'd like to insure against it" policy like you describe ?

Not something I've ever heard of and whilst I could always be wrong... I wouldn't hold my breath.
