Can you get internet without having a landline?

hi is it possible to get the internet without having a landline? my friend cant go with bt and is desperate to get internet, if so does anyone know how to go about it and where would do it? thanks

O2  , three , vodafone all offer mobile broadband , im sure other mobile phone companies offer the same.

Cox has digital cable internet. That is what I use. Qwest has it too it does not run as fast as Cox though.

When I asked, last year (it was Virgin) the sales assistant told me you need a landline even for a wireless connection.

It is possible to get a landline from someone other than BT though.

try talk talk or that, you can connect some mobile phones so your pc and get the net thru that aslo

I don't have a land line. Went wireless last August, bought cell phones, have Dish. Your friend should check with local Internet providers to see if any offer wireless.

att and verizon...(and i am sure other cell phone carriers too) have another package that you can use for your computer.  It is like a cell phone but used for your computer that you connect into a usb port and is like a WiFi connection that you can use anywhere.

However, you need to make sure that the computer is WiFi ready.

On the other hand, I have not gotten a ground line in the past 5 years, but got my cable (comcast) to install a cable line for my computer.  So no ground line but go thru cable.

Short:

~call your cable carrier for internet connection

~check out cell phone carrier for wireless connect.
