Can you get kicked out of school for this?

Ok, first off i am not asking this question about my self just out of curiosity because i am concerned for a friend. At a Catholic private school do they have the ability to kick you out if you become pregnant. I know some schools are harsher on this subject than others but i wanted to know.

Yes, catholic schools can and most likely will kick you out if you're underage and pregnant. It happened to my friend's friend.

Depends on the school. I would sincerly hope they wouldnt do that seeing as most catholic schools tend to preach attempting to help others (makin it pretty contradictory), but just have your friend either have somebody talk to a councelor about it or check the school handbook. best of luck, hope things work out

Yes because they run their own schools and make their own rules. Public schools on the other hand can't do that because they're ran by the state.

I go to a private Catholic school and last year a junior at my school got pregnant and she got kicked out.  I think that that isn't right.  Just because you get pregnant at a young age doesn't mean that you should have to give up your education.  Her friends sold condoms in our school to help raise money for her and her baby=]

It depends on how strict the school is and if this girls parents donate enough money for the officials of the school to look the other way ...

Chances are they may use the "were only looking out for your safty" line and send her to a "pregnant school" ... Thats what would happen in my HS girls were told it was too dangerous to be pregnant and in a regular HS so they were encouraged to go to a special HS were every girl is pregnant ...

If you ask me though this is discrimination!!!!

If this happens maybe your friend should go back and look at the contracts her parents signed and see if they state anything on being kicked out for getting pregnant and if nothing is stated im sure they can sue the school ...

You will have to check the school policy.   Given that having premarital s*x is against the catholic religion then it is possible they can be kicked out however because of human rights it may not be allowed.  The only way to know is to find out what the school policy on that is.

my school will kick you out for 9 months for being pregnant.., you just have to read your handbook or ask the principal

This is the case. Public schools are not allowed to kick you out if you are pregnant.

But private schools can because parents pay for the school and they dont want other students to be around " people like this" not that im against your friend, this is just how the system is.

i study in a private school and yes you could be expelled

it really depends on the school

i used to go to a catholic school and there was a pregnant girl there. they didnt kick her out but she wasnt aloud in health class. it was so stupid.

but that wasnt a private school, just a catholic one.

so im thinking she will.
