Yes you can, either if you do it for a company or if you're fantastic enough that you get high traffic and hence get ad revenue. It's very difficult to do it profitably though.

not really. if you have a popular blog that6 gets a lot of hits then google adsense is right for you. google will pay you for putting up their ads.

If you host your own blog and it becomes popular you can sell ad space on it and be paid in that way.  I think it can be difficult to pull that off, though, you have to get a lot of traffic on a consistent basis.
