Can you get power steering installed into a car.?

I have a car and dont really want to get a new one yet but im wondering how much it would cost to get power steering in my car. Does n e 1 know.

That car does not have enough power to turn the pump. Installing that would exceed the value of the car.

depends on what kinda of car it is. typically youll need the power steering rack, power steering pump, resevoir and the hardlines to and from the rack to the pump. you can find everythingthing at a junk yard. i would ballpark guess it to be $350

There are so few cars built without power steering that I would be shocked if you are really driving one.

But anyway, the proper way to add that is to rob it off an identical car with power steering.  This would probably cost $100 for components from the junkyard and $200 to install.

Just a shot in the dark. It's very rare to do this swap, because there's basically nothing on the road with manual steering.

Yes it is possible to put a power steering unit in your car. I would suggest going to a wrecking yard and get one from a car the same as yours. It is actually pretty easy to reome from one car and install in your own.

Do you mean add power steering where there is none?? Yes that is possible but it is like building the batmobile, it is not done easily or cheaply.  A newer car would prob cost less than adding pwr steering to a car.

If you mean fix a power steering system it depends on what is wrong.

A pump for most domestics is 100-200

most imports cost more 200-400

labor isn't too bad on most cars maybe 1-2 hours worth

A rack is ridiculous could cost up to 1000 for a domestic

and could be as much as triple that for an import esp. BMW / Mercedes type imports.

If it's just a line prob cost about 50-150 for part and about an hour for labor.  A few vehicles out there will have some crazy line that costs more but most are pretty standard.
