  1. Well firstly you should go to your doctor and ask for some tests to find out why you're not having periods!

If you are not menstruating then theres a strong chance you're not ovulating.  And if you're not ovulating (ie releasing an egg from your ovaries each month) you can't conceive.  Conception only happens when a sperm meets an egg and if theres no egg then there can be no conception.

My mother in law had PCOS (polycystic ovary syndrome) and never had periods.  She only ovulated once or twice a year because her hormones were all out of whack.  She got pregnant with my hubby quite by chance - she was only 19 at the time and not using birth control as she didn't think she could get pregnant without periods.  Well she must have ovulated at the right time (obviously without knowing it) and got pregnant.  Without a period to miss she was 4 months along before she found out she was pregnant!  She had 2 more children (plus one still birth), but it was fairly haphazard for her to conceive as she didn't know when she was going to ovulate (OPKs didn't exist back in the early-mid 80s, lol!!).

As for why you're not ovulating well it could be the fact that the hormones from the depo shot have not cleared out from your body yet (depending on when you stopped having the shots) or it could be a hormonal problem like PCOS.

If you don't want to go straight to the Doctor you could try fertility monitoring for a while.

or get hold of a copy of "Taking Charge of your Fertility" by Toni Wechsler.

You'll need a basal body temperature thermometer (available from any pharmacy).

Doing this should give you some idea whether you are ovulating or not.  But if you have't had a period for a while I'd guess that you're not.  If this is the case then you would need to talk to your doctor about your options such as Clomid - a drug used to induce ovulation.

  2. Not having you period is a sign of being pregnant

unless youve going through the menopause.

this coming from a 17 yr old schoolboy...

  3. I got pregnant whilst on the Depo and hadn't had a period for 2 yrs previously. So yes it can happen.

  4. i dont think you can. maybe you have finished your period forever meaning you no longer have any eggs within you so you cannot get pregnant

  5. Yes, you could be pregnant.

dysmenorhea (a disruption of the normal menstrual cycle) can be caused by something as seemingly unrelated as dietary changes.  e.g. it is common among anorexics and bulimics.  think about what menstruation really is- it's your body attempting to get rid of unfertilized eggs. so if you aren't getting rid of them, and you had s*x, yes, they could be fertilized.

get a pregnancy test and/or consult with your health professional.

  6. Well for you to get pregnant you need to have the egg going down the tube, so if you arent having periods (when it comes out) then i dont see how you can get pregnant.  If you havent had a period for 6 months, and you clearly arent pregnant (i think you'd know if you were 6 months pregnant), then I would have thought there was something else happening there.

Maybe you should go back to the doctor and ask for some tests to be done to put your mind at ease, thats what they are there for.

  7. maybe if your doctor isnt taking this matter seriously you should change doctors and get a second opinion. My doctor was doing this with me, I was bleeding constatly for over a year and he basically just said put up with it! I got a second opinion and got it all sorted.

    good luck =)

  8. i have very irregular periods like i only get them 3 times a year and i got pregnant so yes you can
