  1. Definately...and claustrophobic.

  2. If it's on the surface yes, particularly if you are inside the sub with no visual reference to the horizon. Due to their shape subs roll more than ships while on the surface.

When they are submerged they roll very little and few people get sea sick.

Sea sickness is 90% in the head. If you think you are susceptible then you will be.

  3. Yes, watch the movie-documentary "Ghosts of the Abyss."

  4. i am not sure completely, but i know some people get disoriented from watching bubbles the sub creates rise up around them, gives them a feeling that they are diving twice as fast and that can cause some nausea.

  5. I think it depends on the person if you get sea sick easily or not

  6. Oh yeah! I do at times. This generally only happens when on the surface. With a round hull we roll and pitch quiet a bit in high seas >20 degrees at times. Other times you may feel it is when at Periscope Depth in rough seas. But when deep, you cannot even tell you are moving, unless we change depth with a substantial angle. Though at times in very high seas (>30 foot swells) you can feel the boat move at even 400 feet.

  7. Most certainly.   If its in or near the water some people will get seasick.   I was working on a cruise ship in dry dock (no water under it) and some of the people were getting seasick; it was just the thought of being on a ship that sent them (puking) over the edge.

  8. Sea sickness is motion sickness  a lot of people take Gravol for this ,, in a submarine I imagine you could still get it if the sub was on or close to the surface but when under I believe they have a pretty steady ride.

  9. Yep.  I had a few shipmates who would start vomiting when the tugboat was tied on and the mooring lines were dropped.  They had to wear patches.  Others just needed some Dramamine in rough seas.  On or near the surface there is some rocking and rolling due to the round hull.  At depth its nice and smooth unless the boat is answering a flank bell and then its just a light vibration.
