I've heard not to take showers in lightning storms, don't talk on landlines and don't stand by windows. But if you are on a cordless phone and the base is plugged into the wall and a phoneline can I get shocked?

  1. no...not at all.

electricity is the transfer of electrons. that needs some sort of metal or solution to travel though. air doesnt provide that medium.

  2. Cordless phones and cell phones do not increase the risk of a lightning strike.  However using a cell phone outside should be avoided because the metal in the phone may act as a lightning rod.
