  1. Altitude sickness may get you here in Colorado.  Altitude sickness typically doesn't hit for 24 hours after you arrive.  Suggest you stay in Denver for a night to acclimate before hitting Breck.  Drink a lot of water.  Take it easy on the liquor and sugars until you know how you will react.  People that also get motion sickness easily, seem to be affected by altitude a bit more than those that don't.

  2. There are different reasons for getting sick, one example is movement sickness. An example is car sickness. This is when the ear fluids are moving around and telling your brain that you are moving but your legs are still so your brain is confused. A way to fix this problem is to convince your brain that you are moving by looking at the road. Someones, you may feel queasy or sick from the high elevation but this is usually just a mental thing. Just remind yourself that your not too high up and try to get good fresh air. Someones air really high up may make you feel nauseous or just not good.

  3. chances are you'll get sick from being on the plane rather than on the mountain.

  4. I'm from NY and lived in CO for about 8 years.  Never got sick from the altitude change.  It's best to drink a lot of water, and have some on you while skiing or hiking.  You'll want to stay hydrated.  If you start to feel any symptoms you should get to lower ground.

  5. Try to climb slowly (pretty tough for flatlanders on a ski vacation).  Drink lots of fluids to stay hydrated.

  6. Yes you can get altitude sickness from the thinner air at the high altitude of that area. The best way to avoid it is to stay at the resort the night before you start skiing. This will let your body become more adjusted to the lack of oxygen.  Do take it easy the first couple of days, Breck is definitely a challenge, and the runs at altitude will tire you faster.

Take some dancing shoes and enjoy the resort.
