I didn't think it was possible. But my friend's mother forbids her from talking on a cell phone during a thunderstorm because she thinks my friend will get struck by lightning. Is this true? Please back up your answer with facts or sources. Thanks.

  1. Yes it is possible to get struck by lightning while on your cell phone during a thunderstorm. Wether or not  your cell phone increases that chance i do not know.

  2. yes its possible, but not to common, see lighting always hits the highest point, but on occasion, it may hit a person, usally it only hit a person if the person is in a field or not by to many things, now if ur on a cell and talking in a field with not to many things around yeah, ur looking at a great possibility of getting stuck

heres, something to read about it

  3. just a myth.

  4. You could normally get struck, but i don't think that the cell phone has anything to do with it. So a person without a cell phone has the same amount of chances of getting struck, as a person without a cell phone.
