I have a mama cat with me right now and her kittens are 2 weeks old. I'm almost certain that she has worms. Can I give her dewormer now or should I wait untill the kittens have weaned?

  1. some wormers you can and others you can not, I would check with your vet and see what she/he recommends, that would be the safest

  2. It's best to get her wormed as quickly as possible - she needs to feed her kittens, not the parasites!  But be sure to take a stool sample to the vet to see what kinds of worms you're dealing with - and if it's tape worm she will need to be flea treated as well.  Over the counter wormers really aren't very effective, the stuff from the vet works, and really doesn't cost much more.
