  1. As a business owner:

Benefits- A website is freely available all over the world, all the time. People can visit and buy while I'm asleep. It's also relatively inexpensive to operate and easy to update.

Risk- You'll occasionally be bothered by spammers, or have a server go down, but these things are just part of doing business, and are usually easily fixed.

    As a consumer:

Benefit: I have easy access at any time to goods and services I may want. I can easily comparison shop, and read reviews, so that I end up being a better consumer.

Risk: There's always a slight possibility of fraud, but if you buy from respectable site, and make sure that any payment pages have the 'https' in the address bar, it's no riskier than handing your credit card to a server in a restaurant.

I've been shopping and doing business online for several years with no problems. For me, the benefits far outweigh the possibility of risk.

  2. A benefit for both business owners and consumers is that the Internet is up twenty-four hours a day. You don't have to worry about someone who is at work all day, because they can shop late at night without hassle.

However, there is always the risk of possible fraud while doing business on the Internet. Customers have to be careful that their personal information isn't stolen, and business owners have to guarantee payment before they ship out an item.
