Can you give any help please as why my lap top wont load?

lap top my lap top wont seem to load its comes up on screen. windows .xp then its saying start normally i hit the enter button but nothing do you think its a virus don't really no whats up with it it was ok i popped out my nephew went on it now its not working I'm on mates at moment thanks

its probably an update u didn't install the update and now u have this problem i had the same thing... u can try loading the default settings by pressing f 8 or f 10 go to options then u will see... default settings.. try that if that doesn't work next time u boot up your computer go to safe mode and then from there go to system restore. restore ur computer to the earliest date... then it might work...

Use system restore. Keep tapping the F8 key while the laptop is booting up. Its usually before the xp screen appears. When a menu appears choose repair your computer. Be patient, then select system restore. This may take a little while so stay patient. Select the first restore point on the list and wait a little while until you are prompted to restart your laptop. If it doesn't fix it try the same steps again only this time use the second date on your restore list. This will bring your computer back in time to a date before this problem began. It doesn't sound like a virus is causing this. Maybe your nephew turned off your computer while it was installing updates or something like that. The same problem happened to me a couple of weeks ago. I fixed it using system restore.

Try a Linux live CD.

try to login as administrator, hit the F8 key on startup and login under safe mode, once your in use the system restore feature to revert back to when it last worked properly, more on system restore below

He has probably destroyed your system. Try booting from the OS cd and running the repair install.
