I have just completed a study of Matthew 4

The main parts appear to be.

1.The Temptation of Jesus

2.Jesus Begins to Preach

3.The Calling of the First Disciples

4.Jesus Heals the Sick

I enjoyed it all but the points that stuck out to me where.

A.How Satan tried to twist what was written to deceive & temp Jesus.

B, How Jesus fulfilled the prophecy in Isaiah.

C. Jesus teaching to "Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is near."

(There are many others )

It has left me wondering if Jesus is God who could Satan offer Jesus what he already owned .

What points do you like or find important in Matthew 4 ?

Can you give a review of Matthew 4 ?

  1. Like you i get many points out of Mathew 4.

I think it is important to note that we as Christians should be imitator's of Christ so we to should help spread the Good News & yes that means actively going out & preaching , just as we Jehovah's Witnesses do. I can not anymore see how you can be Christian & not want to become active in the preaching .

The warning in the time of Jesus is every bit as urgent today as it was in the life of Jesus.

I also liked where he taught repentance & healed , this is a great sign of what is really just around the corner for mankind.

Keep up your study , i am not on often but i am enjoying reading your questions & the answers you receive

  2. Jesus was both fully God and fully man - a kind-of flesh-and-blood vessel for God's power. Therefore he still had all the desires and physical temptations of men, which is part of the reason he is considered so special - he had the strength to overcome them. He also did not own everything - he COULD have done if he had wanted to, and lived a selfish, indulgent life on Earth, which is what Satan was essentially offering him. But he couldn't accept the offer without betraying his Father's (God's) intention of bringing people to him through their own free will. If Jesus had displayed all his divine power, people would have been forced to believe, which wouldn't have had anything to do with faith. Jesus was strong enough to realise the bigger picture and put that above what his mortal self finds attractive.

    I hope that helps...?!
