Criticism is when you offer an opinion about something that someone or something else has done, said, is wearing, looks like, etc.  Such as,

"You are too slow."

"She wears too much makeup."

"He talks too much about personal issues."

"That painting is too glaring."

It doesn't have to be a negative opinion, although it most often is.

Many types of criticism. Not always meant to make someone feel bad. Such as critics who review movies and books they are offering thier opinion only and perhaps the author or director will gain something from that. Another type is the act of pointing out the worst in something or someone. Such as The dress makes you look short. Or Those pants really do nothing for you. Just a couple of examples. Critcism can only hurt a person if they allow it to. Basiclly its just someone else opinion and everyone has one. Hope this helps.
