Can you give me a resort recommendation for playa del carmen?

My future wife and I are headed to Playa Del Carmen for our honeymoon. Any suggestions for a nice, all-inclusive resort?

And, is the all-inclusive route the way to go? Will we be limited to what our resort has to offer if we do?

  1. The Royal Hideaway is also a very nice property.  The food, service, and facilities are top-notch.  Having only been there once, I can't say whether or not all-inclusive is the best way to go.  But for us it was very enjoyable and worry-free.  One piece of advice:  Ensure that your transfers from CUN to your property are with a reputable company.  We had a little problem with the transfer from the resort to the airport (no fault of the resort that we could see).

  2. My husband and I stayed at the Playacar Palace in Playa del Carmen last March.  It is all-inclusive and very nice.  I love the fact that the Playacar Palace is about a block from 5th avenue shopping and from the ferry dock that goes to Cozumel, so there's so much to do!  Also, the Playacar Palace offers free excursions to its guests, including some snorkling and Mayan ruins.  We loved it so much, we are going back in August!

  3. Whenever I travel to Mexico, I often find resorts through differentworld.com. They have the best resorts in Mexico. I have never been to Playa del Carmen, but this site list a few that are in Playa. Here they are http://www.differentworld.com/_cgibin/2....

Go to the home page and looks at some resorts in surrounding areas.

I also like tripadvisor.com. Here are a few hotels http://www.tripadvisor.com/Hotels-g15081... I almost went to Maroma but did not. I have heard great things about this resort and about Shangri-La Caribe. Not sure if they are all--inclusive but check them out!

I suggest you also look on fodors.com and frommers.com for some more suggestion. You can ask other travelers their opinion about certain resorts.

I like all inclusive but if you are planning and traveling outside the resort for meals it may not be worth it. You are not limited, but just have to pay a bit extra.

    Have fun and congradulations!
