Question:

Can you give me advice on how to lack procrastination?

I do this continually. I'm taking college on line and I know all the assignments when I begin taking the course, but I can't submit them until they're due. Now about reading my text, I just browse through the books. I know for sure that if I were taking college on campus, I'd have to work harder and not drag around. Either way I gotta work for the grade.

I procrastinate by waiting until the day before to get the assignments completed. I have sense to complete the assignments if I have other things to do. I'm passing them though.

  1. Clear notes of what you are going to do and some follow through. It helps at first to have a or someone else to help you stay focused. This has to be someone who will take it as seriously as you do . And most importantly pray hey it does help to get rid of all the drama that gets in the way and helps to keepself control to avoid watching that last television show or checking those e-mails when you have work to do.LOL

  2. To be honest, what you describe is pretty common for students who are at the college doing the courses, too. I know I went through that my first year for sure and for certain courses after my first year.

First of all, you have to decide that getting your work done sooner is something you WILL do. Not something you want to do or will try to do, but something you WILL do. You have to really commit to it or it's not going to happen.

Second, you take your assignments and you break them down into more manageable parts. Set up a calendar where it says which parts are to be done by when. Force yourself to get them done by those dates.

Third, figure out your motive for doing this work sooner. There's no motivation without a motive! There has to be something specific you want to accomplish, some goal you want to meet, to keep you going.

  3. beating procrastination takes determination. It is a choice. You cannot wait for some "feeling" of motivation to take over, you have to will yourself to do it. Lay out a plan and stick to it.

You may need to make a decision to work hard every day, or you may need to renew your decision minute by minute.

Procrasination is usually about really not caring so much about what you are doing, concern about an unfavorable outcome or hoping someone will come in and save you or give you what you want.

I know this because I do the same thing. And over the course of my life I have really messed things up by my decision to procrastinate.

So, smack yourself around and get it done!

  4. Plan them out accordingly. That way you have time to do what you want to do for other stuff.

  5. Advice? On how to make choices?

Well, you either do it, or not.

When you have grown tired of how you go about doing things now, that's when you will find the motivation to make a change; no one can do it for you.

Even if anyone gives good advice, you still have to make the choice to follow it, or procrastinate in implementing it; it's all up to you.

  6. When you get the assignment, you should plan out evenly what you should complete on each day until the due date. If you get really into doing the assignment, you can always work ahead. You can get a planner to write down homework and what you should complete by making your own due dates.
