  1. Speak to an advisor at your college. But just to give you an idea, general education courses consist of math, english, science, humanities, social/behavioral courses, electives.

    They will make you take English 101 and English 102, college algebra or college mathematics, natural science courses like Biology or Geography or Chemistry, humanities are a wide range of courses everything from intro to cinema to art history to philosophy 101.

    Also most colleges make you take psych 101 or sociology 101 as part of social/behavioral requirements, and then you got your electives. These can be almost anything. Also part of the general education at many colleges are their critical reading 101 course, communication 100, and probably one computer course. They want everyone to take one at the very least because it shows that you are computer literate.

  2. Most schools require you to take a core of courses outside your major sampling a range of fields from science to the arts for a well  rounded education. Depending on your major (GE are classes that are not part of your major requirement), the following are examples of GE courses:

    Intro Biology

    Physical Geology

    any Intro (100 level) science

    Intro to C++ programming

    Intro level Humanities (e.g. Intro to Classical Culture)

    Intro to Theater

    Music Appreciation

    100 level or 200 level sociology courses

    100 level or 200 level philosophy courses
