  2. I believe nearly all (if not all) seeds have seed coats.  However, some seeds have their seed coat fused to the fruit (like in grains) so you don't necessarily see the seed coat as something distinct.

    A good visual of what a seed coat is is to think about when you've eaten beans. Often you'll see this outer covering that holds the two halves of the bean together.  This is the seed coat.
