My hubby may have a job in Gettysburg area of Pennsylvania or Maryland. (It's right on the border between the states). Any experience with autism services and/or special ed in this area?

In California, we have regional centers that assign you a case worker and and fund some programs for kids with autism such as summer camp, respite care, US Adaptive Recreation Centers. The case worker can also assist/attend IEPs with you and help in evaluations. Is there something similar in either state?

  1. Your best bet is to begin to use Google.  Look for Autism support groups in the Gettysburg, Pa area, and get in touch with them.  You don't need to reinvent the wheel.  Use their experience to guide you through the system.

I think Pa's system is similar to Ca's.  There are resources through Communty Service Boards, and they can link you to Case Managers for services.

  2. call each states department of disability services
