Can you give me interesting theme ideas for a wedding? (see details)?

My wedding was SUPPOSED to be at a house that allowed weddings...but plans have now changed.

Now....the wedding will be at a run-of-the-mill banquet hall :(

What kind of themes can I work with? What are interesting ways to decorate?

  1. Midsummer Night's Dream: Dark, draped lights, rich colors like teal and purple...

Old Hollywood Galmour: Think Audrey Hepburn =]

My fiance' and I considered those themes before deciding on an English Garden theme =]

  2. go with maybe the season your gettting married, the fall is best ( i think)

or if you like butterflies, stars, the color pink whatever you like go with that as your theme.

or if maybe you and your fiance like collecting antiques or movies or whatnot go with something along those lines..

let us know what you like and we can try to find some ideas for you!!

you can turn that run of the mill banquet hall into something so fablous that it wont even look like a banquet hall, so dont worry about that!!

  3. Well you don't really need a "theme" if you don't want one or can't think of anything you like.  You could just have your specific colours and leave it at that.

My fiance and I were going to do a Great Gatsby theme to our wedding that was going to be in January.  We are having a jazz band at the reception, so we were going to work in art deco details and make it like a jazz club.  But as we planned it more I was getting tired of having to stick to the theme, so we decided to stick with our colours (black, ivory and silver) and maybe do art deco fonts for the invites, but not be stuck to having specific type of decor, etc.

We ended up moving our wedding to late November anyway, so now we are having a Christmas theme (which I've always wanted).  Again, the "theme" isn't really as important but our venue will be decorated for Christmas and our colours are cranberry, silver and gold, so that's Christmasy, but other than that we are just decorating/doing the invites in the colours, not necessarily the theme.

  4. You could do a cultural theme, mixture of asian chienese styles but hit it with christian in a long white dress.

Or if your into mor party themes why not try somthing like cinderella? Or a classy old wedding from 40's when people used to work in mills and dress along some of that style so you fit into surroundings :)

  5. I would suggest you to go with the winter wedding theme. I think it's going to be fun.

  7. A friend of ours is doing an "old-school" gangster theme, like d**k Tracy style.  I thought that was an awesome idea.

I think a theme is a great idea.  It will make your wedding stand out even if it is in an unexceptional location.
