  1. Because the US is the only place that has the refineries that can handle the particular type of oil that they extract.

    Because it would be nice to be friends with them so that they would stop supporting FARC.

    Because they could help us achieve better relations with Cuba.

    Maybe they would send troops over to Iraq to help us out there if they were our friends.


  2. NUMBER ONE REASON: Oil.

    But since you said no trade. I guess that it's better to be friends with a country and be friendly, than constantly critizice it and even threat it sometimes. It makes the U.S. looks better.
