  1. I don't have a special site but NASCAR does use a special type of gas that goes into the cars.  It is of a different octane level than that we use in our cars.  477,300 is an estimated amount of gallons of gas used per year.  And the estimated amount of CO2 emitted in one year by all three national series is 4,300 metric tones.  That, by the way, equals to .0000017 percent of total CO2 released per year.  Anyway, look up some articles on NASCAR.com that were out at the end of the year because they will usually have those "By-the-Numbers" special feature.  Also, NASCAR.com has a by-the-numbers section once a week before a race that gives special facts about that specific race.

  2. 'LOTS'

  3. It's less than 400,000 gallons per year. Or 1095.8 gallons a day spread out over 52 weeks. (1 year) (theres 36 races per year)

To put it into perspective, my city uses 2,880,000 gallons per day, every day!

Nascar Stock Car's get 5-6 MPG. 43 cars racing 500 miles in 36 races would be 154,800 gallons. Plus qualifying, practice and testing. Also, not all races are 500 miles even if it's called a 500. If it's a 500 on a 1/2 mile short track it's 500 laps which would be 250 actual miles so....

  4. 6,000 gallons per race

    36 races

    216,000 gallons per season

  5. Yes.  NASCAR drivers use gas. Lots of it.

And because I am so sure that you want to know all about how much gas NASCAR racers consume that I am posting this interesting link for you....a zillion answers to your very question.

  6. thats hard to say....guys top off...depends on the laps run, extra laps run towards the end...its alot though...think about it, 43 cars running 500miles and at the end of the event about 30-38 cars still running, there is no sure way to really say, all events are different but thats something worth really looking into
