Question:

Can you give me some advice for my vegas trip?

My roommate and I will be going to Las Vegas for my 21st birthday come this November. We originally had our hearts set on staying at the MGM Grand, but now we're also considering the Venetian. Remember this is for my 21st so we're looking to do a LOT of partying and have a LOT of fun. We are also trying to find the best deals. Expedia seems to be our first pick because it has a VIP cutting pass with drink deals and no cover charge for the entire time we're there for an extra $120. Is this a good deal? Now that we are just under 3 months away when is the best time to book our flight/hotel? Any other tips on Vegas Clubs such as the best ones to go to, the best times to go, etc. would be helpful as well! Oh, and does anyone know what the weather is like in November? Are the pools still open? Thanks in advance!

  1. Turning 21 and going to Vegas - I envy you! MGM Grand is a nice place to stay. Venetian is even nicer with bigger rooms, of course it's more expensive. Remember - you can party anywhere, so find a place that suits your needs to rest your weary head, and then hit the clubs at will. If you're looking at the Venetian price range, also consider Bellagio because it's mid-Strip and you'll have other places you can walk to when you're ready to go clubbing.

Be careful with the VIP passes - sometimes they just get you into a shorter line instead of right into the club. If you're going on a weekend, getting into clubs can be a lesson in patience as some of them have long lines. Check out the details on the VIP pass before you purchase it. Also, http://www.vegas.com has front-of-line passes, too.

Book your trip now - if you wait the prices will only go up. I have found that sites like Expedia and vegas.com have good package deals, but surf around to get the best deal.

I went to Vegas in November 5 years ago for my honeymoon. It was cool and we had a few raindrops the last day we were there, but overall it's better than the blazing summer heat. Many places on the Strip (including MGM Grand) have at least one heated pool open in the winter.

Good luck, best wishes, and have fun!

    Mike

  2. The MGM is a nice hotel but so is the Venetian OR the new Palazzo connected to the Venetian.  And right now most casinos have special deals that you may not find by going thru a souece like hotels.com

Check out www.lasvegasnow.com OR call the Venetain, etc., directly for rates and deals.  Ask them about VIP deals, etc.

Book the flight ASAP because you those rates are not going to decrease with gas prices.  But get those room rates, too.

The pools probably will not be open because Novemer can be very cold windy weather, but then again can be very nice, you never know what Mother Nature will do.  Ask each casino their policy.

I personally love the atmosphere of Venetiain and their canal shops.  Plus you are right there by Wynn, Treasure island, Mirage, Palazzo, and easy walking distance to Caesars Palace.

My recommendation is to call the 800 number or check the web site of those casinos in consideration.

  3. First off any where you stay on you 21st in Vegas will be fun. Its a really fun town. In my opinion Venetian would be better because i think it is more centrally located to the hot spots. Also, I would recommend to book directly through the hotel and not try to find package deals. It is usually cheaper to book direct Another warning, vip passes- those are usually given to you if your walking around the casino... They always give girls the  vip passes and no cover charge passes when your just chilling. So, i would look into that more...As for the weather it gets a bit cool. Especially at night. But nothing a sweat shirt wouldnt fix.

    Have Fun and GOOD Luck

  4. I went to Las Vegas almost 2 years ago at Christmas time because the hotels are cheaper then. The pool wasn't open and I stayed at the Flamingo. It's a decent place if you don't want to spend alot of money. The Venetian is beautiful, better than MGM! You'll love it! Unfortunately I don't know anything about the clubs, I was there for shows and a relaxing vacation with my husband. I didn't need a jacket then, a sweater is fine for during the day. You must go to the Sunday morning champagne buffet at the Bellagio and make sure you're very hungry! The champagne is unlimited which we didn't realize and there's every food imaginable!

  5. I suggest staying at mandalay bay or treasure island! Great for your 21st and partying and mandalay bay has the best pool!

pools are open based on the weather, ususally closing for 1 month for maintenance sometime between dec.-feb.
