I remember when I was in the US Navy and watching the Holmes vs Norton fight with all of us shaking our heads as the fight was that close.

  1. Leonard-Duran I, Leonard-Hagler, Pacquiao-Marquez I and II were are too close to call, at least on television.

Then there were the bad decisions.  Trinidad-de la Hoya should have been a draw; Hopkins-Taylor I and II should have gone to Hopkins; etc., etc.  Pender-Sugar Ray Robinson I and II gave true meaning to the term "Hometown Decision."

  2. Roy Jones v. Antonio Tarver 1

I was pulling for Jones in that fight, but I truly thought that Tarver had won it.

  3. I thought the Juan Manuel Marquez vs Manny Pacquiao rematch was very close and the people didn't really get to see the REAL winner. Pacquiao knocked Marquez down, but Marquez really dominated many rounds.

Ike Quartey vs De La Hoya. If it wasn't for the last round, it would have been really difficult to determine a winner. The winner was determined by the knockdown in the 12th round, but the fight was really close. The sixth or seventh round was AMAZING.

    Shane Mosley-De La Hoya

Their first fight was close, but Mosley did edge De La. The second fight was really close, i thought De La Hoya did enough to win. He had an overwhelming statistical advantage, and they awarded the win to Mosley. If De La Hoya would have gotten the decision, there would have been a trilogy.

Blogbaba says that the Whitaker vs De La Hoya was a robbery, and I believe it wasn't. The fight was difficulit to judge and even Whitaker's corner told Pernell that they were losing the fight in between round 9 and 10, and Whitaker did not do anything in Round 12. DLH landed  the harder punches and Whitaker didn't really do much offensively to beat DLH.  Whitaker did make Oscar look like an novice with his great defense, and that's why people thought he won the fight. He made DLH miss It was a close fight, but I would never, never call it a robbery.

Again The REAL winner was not determined.

  4. several of chris eubanks fights have gone down to the wire...particularly after the michaes watson tragedy.........prior to that, he fought a guy named dan sherry, and looked very ordinary after coming off an upset win over nigel benn.

sherry seemed to be winning before euband "butted" him, had two points deducted, and still won.

the first eubank - watson bout WAS that close, i remember having it even going into the last round, giving the final round to watson, but eubank took the verdict.

the mc guigan - cruz fight would have been a draw if barry wasnt deducted a point for low blows......if two judges had not scored the last round 10-7 for cruz, it would still have been a 3 way split draw.

in 1990, IBF bantamweight champ orlando canizales defended his belt against englands billy hardy, and i believe he was lucky to get the verdict.

former IBF featherweight champ jorge paez had some close fights with louis espinosa and troy dorsey in '89/'90.

  5. There have been some out right robberies that were clearly bogus decisions.

Hearns/Leonard II, Tommy clearly won, the draw was a gift to Ray.

Chavez/Whitaker, Whitaker clearly won the draw was a gift to Chavez

Toney/Tiberi, Tiberi clearly won, Toney got a gift.

DeLa Hoya/Whitaker, Whitaker clearly won, Oscar got a gift

Dela Hoya/Trinadad, Oscar clearly won, then ran away for the last five rounds and forced the judges to give it to Tito.

Close hard fought fights that could have went either way were an Ali trademark.  All three Norton fights were razor thin.  I though Jimmy Young beat Ali and got robbed. Both Spinks fights were tight, and even the two distance fights with Frazier were coin tosses.

The first Azuma Nelson/Jeff Fenech fight was called a draw, but I though Fenech won that one, and it was razor thin close.  The KO silenced the critics in their second fight, but Jeff got robbed in Vegas.

The one that drives me nuts to this day was Ray Leonard's decison over Marvin Hagler, I will never admit Ray beat Marvin.

  6. sugar shane mosley vs. miguel cotto was close

flloyd mayweather vs. oscar de la hoya was close

    the 2nd holyfield vs bowe

  7. Pac-Man and Marquez and Mosley Vs. Cotto.

  8. I think mayweather v castillo 1 was really really close and myself watching it on tv i thought castillo should have won that fight. Then there is mayweather v de la hoya which was another close one and another fight i think floyd lost. Also marquez won the rematch with pacquiao.

  9. The Larry Holmes vs Michael Spinks fight was close.

  10. no i cant last time i esearched it went on deaf ears !

  11. Leonard vs Hagler, it was a very close fight because they both gave it all they had, Leonard was very accurate and boxed very well, hagler was the more aggressive and consistent between the two it was very tough fight to judge and in my opinion it should have been a draw not a victory for leonard.
