  1. Overall i think it is a good place it is safe and there is public transport which is a big plus. It is fairlly affordable compared to lots of the other housing in sydney especially hornsby heights except there is no train station there.. um there is a big shopping centre right next to the train station where you can do groccey shopping. i dont really now very much about the schools in hornsby but i now there is turramurra school and high school which is pretty close to hornsby about 3 train stations away. there is also hornsby girls high school which is a all girls school but it is a  selective school so you need to do a test to get in.

here is the turramurra school website http://www.turramurra-p.schools.nsw.edu....

there is also  hornsby south school but i dont know any one who has gone there here is the website

    http://www.hornsbysth-p.schools.nsw.edu....

oh and there is also a really nice public pool in hornsby.. the only down side of hornsby is its not the close to the city and it isnt close the the beach either.

    hope that helped

  2. Nice upper middle class area. Very safe (like pretty much everywhere in Sydney), housing is mainly comfortable 70's and 80's houses, plus newer apartments. Great private schools nearby, some of the public highschools used to be a bit rough around the edges when I lived in the area in the 80's but it may well have changed since then. On the train line, convenient but a fair way from the city. There are some nice bushy parts of Hornsby with birdlife etc. Lots of shops.
