Can you give me the name of this flower

Question

I can only describe it as green, furry almost, looks like a funghi as there are layers of wavy 'petals' that are about 2-3 mm thick. it's a flattish oval shape, kind of like a clam shell I guess but with several rows inside. Does this ring any bells, I've searched the net for ages and can't find a photo or anything.
