  1. Yes.

    1) Some sort of network adapter (preferably 1000 Mbps)

    2) Fast Processor (possibly one made especially for servers)

    3) Bags of storage - large Hard Disk

    This, of course, depends on what the server is to be used for; and how many clients could be connected at any one time. If a server needs to be very fast, rack-mount servers may be used. These are multiple servers stored in a rack. The IBM blade servers are good example of these.

  3. It all starts with a dual cpu motherboard with raid capability. Then you add 8gb of performance ram, and 6 - 10k rpm drives in an array, and naturally install centOS linux. For cpu's you get 2 intel xeon's! I just built a server like this for 8500.00!
