  1. yes, my mother told me she gave me tea with a hint of sugar (so its not bitter) starting at 3 weeks old.. about a 350ml bottle a day or so.

  2. Yes as long as you boil it first and let it cool and the give it from a sterile bottle or spoon.

  3. what ive found with my baby is that if she needs more liquids i give it to her.  she likes water, i just make sure i dont fill her up on water, cause its of no value besides to rehydrate.  but hey if ya need it..ya need it!

  4. No cause they have plenty of it if u are breastfeeding or formula feeding

  5. I don't think you are supposed to.They need the nutrition from being breast fed or formula. Water doesn't have the nutrients they need.

  6. its not a necessity. they dont really need it at all when they are babies. it tends to fill them up so then they wont eat normal at feeding time,

  7. I wouldn't.  Remember that breast milk and formula are made up mostly of water.  Too much water can actually harm an infant.

  8. Can you?  Yes.

Should you?  Definitely not . It's not necessary and can lead to serious harm.  Newborns need only breastmilk or, if that's not available, formula.

  9. no, they get plenty of water from either nursing or taking the bottle. giving a newborn water can be dangerous if too much and can cause something called water intoxication where the nutrients in their blood is diluted and it causes andd electrolyte imbalance

  10. Yes. No matter what the doctor says you can give the baby water.

  11. No.  You should only give a newborn breastmilk or formula, unless other wise advised by a Dr.  Water can fill them up, and make them not want BM or formula.

  12. Water wont harm the newborn. But they get all the water they need from their formula.

  13. NO.

There is no need to, and this can actually harm them because they may not consume the amount of breastmilk (or formula) that they need if they are full on water.  Water does nothing for them.  They get all the water they need from breastmilk.

  14. If you are breastfeeding then not until he or she is 6 months and you start introducing solids.  If you are formula feeding then they get enough water in the formula.  However you can start giving them water at about 4 months old.  Just a little bit though not lots to substitute for the formula.

  15. Not without Dr's permission

  16. No... It will throw off the ballance of nutrients given by the breast milk or formula.

  17. They don't really need it, there's water in the milk they are drinking.

  18. Should babies drink water?

"Don't give extra water to infants younger than 6 months and don't give more than six ounces a day to babies between 6 and 12 months of age. Water triggers babies' immature kidneys to flush away sodium, which can disrupt normal brain activity and cause seizures... "The smaller the baby, the smaller amount of water it takes to do harm." The best way to hydrate a thirsty baby is with breast milk or formula - and you should never dilute formula with extra water."

  19. NO!  There kidneys are not prepared to handle water.  It can give babies under 6 months old a condiiton called water intoxication that can be very serious.  Here is an article that explains more.
