Can you give someone a pokemon in diamond/pearl without having to trade another pokemon for it??

I was just wondering, because every time I trade with my friend I have to go and catch a weak pokemon to give him (since he doesn't want any of my normal pokemon in return).

It would be a lot easier if I didn't have to go out and find weaker pokemon and trade them..

Can you just give them to someone without trading??

The way you have been doing it is the only way you can do it. I get great trades like that all of the time. I have to go and get weak pokemon and trade for the nice ones my friend gives to me too.
