Can you glue things to a tree with wood glue???

  1. We did just hours before hurricane Katrina hit Lousiana, and things stuck until we took it off.


  2. Yes, just make sure if you want it to stick through rain that it be waterproof glue.

  3. If you want something that will *never* come off, you could also use a polyurethane glue like Gorilla Glue.

    It will swell a bit as it cures, so use a bit less near the edges than you might and/or wipe the excess away as it comes out.  

    These glues require weighting or clamping in some kind of way while setting though or the item will ride out a bit when the glue swells.

    (If you use a regular wood glue, be sure the tree is thoroughly dry and that the item you're gluing to it can also be held by wood glue --main porous items.  Generally, wood glues are best when clamped too.

    Wood glues are pretty waterproof and will take some stretching after they've set, but too much constant water or expansion of the tree, e.g., could make the bond weaker.)

    Isn't there some way you can attach the things you want by hanger things on them, or with wire or nails, etc.?
