Can you go Air Guard part time to full Guard? Or even Reserves or Active Duty?

  1. The Guard/Reserves is a one weekend a month unless deplyed. I think you're a bit confused.

    Active Duty: Full time job. 5 days a week, generaly 8-6

    Guard/Reserves: Part time job. Weekend warrior, one weekend a month and a two week summer training.

    A reserve contract is generally 6 years, after that time is up you can go active duty. Once you sign a contract that contract must be fulfilled.


  2. As far as going air guard to full guard, it is dependent on their need for a full time position. Going from Air Force reserves to active duty is nearly impossible because the Air Force is not taking prior service (If they do, its an EXTREMELY small percentage). The only way it is easy to go Reserve to active is if you are enlisted in the reserves and commission to officer into active duty.
