Can you go blind looking at a full moon through a telescope? Are there any telescopes in the world that are big enough to blind a person looking at a full moon? Even with my 7x50 binocculars the full moon seems pretty bright.

  1. nope... a flashlight could blind you, but not the moon

  2. No, but such observing can impair your night vision for a while.

  3. i feel it is safe to say those in charge of a telescope that powerful, aren't going to let me use it for such things. that is a good thing cause i'd probably have to test that

  4. No moonlight is not so bright as it is like a mirror. The sunlight is reflected from moon surface.

  5. no.  it might be bright enough to make your vision go a little spotty if looking through a telescope that focused it really well, but nowhere near bright enough to blind.  even the sun can take hours to blind you.

  6. no you cannot. your eyes can hurt sometimes, but you will most definately not go blind. the moon reflects the sun's light, but it also absorbs a lot. ther moon has a much, much less magnitude than the sun. i have starred at the moon through a powerful telescope for hours. of course, it wasn't full because you want to observe it during its lunar phases to view the surface in detail, but i have seen the full moon through a telescope a few times. although sometimes it hurts my eyes, it will not damage my vision to any extent.
