  1. yes, u have to get a foster parent licenes and if the parents are willing to give up there kid then u can, like give up there visitaion rights. or if dcfs says that there parents wont be fit enough ever.

  2. Not here, you can't.  You can talk to them about where you can adopt and get info on being foster parents though.

  3. In Los Angeles you can. I am adopting a 1 1/2 year old. My brother adopted a newborn and a nine month old from the foster sytem.

  4. Yes!  There are thousands of children in the foster care system who are waiting to be adopted.  Contact your local Department of Children and Families, or look on your state website.  They will probably have some contact numbers or e-mail addresses, and they may also list some informational meetings on the process.

  5. Of course, but they don't adopt out to just anyone, you'll have to attend classes, get homestudies, and wait, wait, wait if you want a young child.  It's easier to become a foster-to-adopt parent, that way you can take children that haven't become available to adopt yet (but probably will).

  6. Families interested in adopting from foster care should contact their state or county DHS or CPS office and ask for information.

Every state and even the counties within the state have their own training, certification and placement process.

  7. You could foster and hope the children come available to adopt. That is the best way if you want a child under 12. Some states like Texas, California and South carolina have a bit more children to offer if just adopting out of the state system. If you don't live in these states the children are near impossible to get. They like to place inside their state first. Any children that haven't found a home become available to place out of state but that is unusual for a younger child.

  8. Depends on your state.  In my state foster care is privatized, so you would have to go through the agency that has the adoption contract.  the best way to go about it, would be to contact that state social service agency and find out how to adopt a child in foster care.  They should be able to direct you.
