Well, double majoring is completely doable, and it's much easier if courses overlap. I've seen someone once double major in two subjects that are completely unrelated, too. The guy took like 9  courses a semester, for 4 years plus summer school. A normal course load is around 5 courses/semester depending on your program.

Triple majoring is possible, I guess (definitely not in 4 years ... maybe 6++?), but it'd be extremely tough, and your GPA would probably bomb, which may or may not be worth it.

They do take the same classes to an extent but after a couple years they branch off. It would be extremely tough and I'm not sure why someone would want to do it but it's definitely possible.
