I love grilling fresh asparagus, but it is a little costly. So if I can find frozen asparagus on sale, I wanted to see if I could thaw it and then grill it. So, does anyone know???

Thanks!!

  1. Yes, as long as it's thawed, and you pat dry any excess moisture.

  2. Just put the frozen asparagus in a bowl of cold water for a little bit, until flexible- then grill as normal

  3. I just toss it directly from the freezer onto the grill to thaw and cook a bit. Yes, it sizzles a little but that doesn't matter to me.

I like the ones that are frozen separately and not stuck together.

I freeze all I can while it is in season so I have lots after it isn't so available fresh. Lay it on cookie sheet and freeze then put into zip lock bags for storage.

  4. Frozen asparagus is also pricey:)  Unusually fresh is cheaper, per pound, so check the weight on the frozen packages.  You can thaw it, but it'll be limper than fresh

  5. Yes, but the best way to do it..is boil some water..(while still frozen), then drop them in the boiling water..just until blanched, then toss them with a little olvie oil, lemon juice, whatever your preference is, then put them on the grill. If you wait for them to thaw, they will be mushy.

  6. Sure, just let them thaw first.
