Can you grow coconut trees at the northermost point of New Zealand? ?

Or is it too cold.....?

I live in Catalunya, Spain, it´s just curiosity.

  2. New Zealand being in the southern hemisphere, the northern most point is warmer than its southern most point. The average temperature of northern most part of

    New Zealand (Cape Reinga) is 15 degree Celsius with highs reaching 28 degree Celsius and low about 8-10degree which is not too cold. So i guess you could grow a coconut tree if you really wanted to but it won't be that good tree. Most coconuts in New Zealand comes from Fiji, I haven't seen any coconut trees in NZ but it could be more because of not being in a tropical region rather than due to cold.
