Can you grow violas from cuttings?

I have a lovely pale yellow viola that I'd like to propagate for the fall. I've collected seeds from it but there weren't that many. I found some for sale but they were $3.99 for 25 seeds + shipping. I have a big garden and I'm trying to economize.

  1. I would have a go with the cuttings. You have nothing to loose. They can often be propagated from cuttings, and then you get a true form. Seedling can vary somewhat from the original plant. Good luck.

  2. No. They self seed though & you should watch for the tiny seedlings when they come up in spring.
