Conservative columnist David Brooks tonight on PBS, after Ted Kennedy's speech at the Democratic National Convention, related an anecdote about being on John McCain's bus a day or so ago when McCain received a phone call from HIS FRIEND Ted Kennedy, who called merely to say hello and wish him well.

Doesn't this illustrate what is lost on most of you, that adversaries fight the good fight when they treat their opponents with respect and confine their battle to the battle of ideas, not the battle of smears and hatred?

I wonder if you all are capable of learning a bit of a lesson from Ted Kennedy and John McCain?

  1. I respect all who earn it, none that just demand it. I'll leave it at that.

  2. Excellent point, but unfortunately I think it will be lost on most.

  3. Question 1: Ted Kennedy

    Question 2: Yes

    Question 3: Yes

  4. yes i agree! we could. and i also think that even though in public hillary will support Obama and wish him well, but on voting day i think when she steps in that booth to cast her vote , she will vote for John Mccain! that is just my opinion of course but, even hillary knows john Mccain is the best choice to lead this nation.

  5. It kind of reminds me of a lot of other two-faced politicians.

Biden, saying McCain would make a good president.

Michelle saying "God Bless America" after saying she was never proud of her country before Obama ran. Etc.

  6. The lesson is that the Republican-Democrat rivalry is every bit as real as Professional Wrestling.

  7. Then he called Joe Lieberman. Guys, it is either Romney or Lieberman!?! Then you know they will FORCE Bush/MCCAIN/Kennedy Illegal Amnesty down our throats and stab us in the back repeatedly!

I'll vote BOB BARR, thank you.

  8. I wonder if Teddy afforded the same courtesy to the family of the girl he murdered.

  9. Here's hoping that John McCain learns the lesson of John McCain.  I'm not sure who that guy is who is running for president, but he certainly isn't John McCain.

  10. There are numerous politicians like this, but sadly some are not and the fuel the rhetoric.  Teddy Kenedy himself is capable of that, but then he'll smile and shake the hands of the person he just berated.  Nancy Pelosi should learn some lessons from him, and Harry Reid too.

  11. You must have missed the campaign commercials.

  12. They are all the enemy of the American people and are equally invested in keeping the charade alive.  So why wouldn't they be cordial since they eat from the same plate.

I would like to invite all democrats and republicans to self terminate and go to h**l.

  13. Biden wished McCain well too.

Do you think Obama call Hillary?
