  1. x²-4x+1=0

    x^2 - 2 (x) (2) + 2^2 + [1 - 2^2]= 0 >>> added & subtracted 4

    [x - 2]^2 - [root3]^2 =0

    [x - 2+ root3] [x-2-root3] =0

    x = 2 + root3

    x = 2 - root 3

    corrected

  2. x²-4x+1=0

    => x²-4x+4=3

    => (x-2)² = 3

    => x-2 = ±√3

    => x = 2±√3.

  3. x = [ 4 ± √ (16 - 4  ) ] / 2

    x = [ 4 ± √ (12) ] / 2

    x = [ 4 ± 2√3 ] / 2

    x =  2 ± √3

  4. It doesn't factor, so you need to use the quadratic formula.  Look in your book.
