Can you guys help me understand the word TENURE a bit more by giving me examples? ?

tenure:

2. the length of time an office or position lasts

4. the legal right to live in a place or to use land or buildings for a period of time

when i say examples i mean sentences, pictures, or whatever mnemonic you think is useful

  1. Here are a couple of sentences:  

    Joe was honored at his retirement party to celebrate his 30-year tenure with the company.

    Jean was given the position of vice-president over her opponent, Nancy, because she had a longer tenure with the government office where she worked.  


  2. One of the most common MISCONCEPTIONS about the word is that students, some of them, think its actually "Ten Year".  I am amused by this and you'd be shocked at how common that misuse is.  Ironically, that might be the best way to remember the word.

    The board voted to give Prof Jones tenure.

    There is a tenure track position available at the JC.

    Two good sentences.
