Can you have TOO MUCH protein?

I bought some EAS protein powder...its a mix of soy and whey and something else....my roommate said you can have as much as you want and i should....but the bag says there is a limit on protein...i lift weights every day...should i limit the protein or what?

  1. oh yes don't take too much protein through this weigh protein shake. I would say not more than 50gms a day before workout through the shake.

    Take the rest of the proteins through natural resources.  


  2. ever heard of the atkin's diet and hwo it went bad?

    atkin's made his whole diet on just protein.

    some people got really ill/sick becuase of it and nearly died.

  3. Why would someone turn this question into an attack on the Atkins diet? How sad. However yes, you can have too much protien..the question is how much is too much? If you are eating normal meals and supplementing them with some EAS shakes, you should be fine. If you are weight lifting the common theme among lifters is 1 grm of protien for every pound of lean mass. For example, a man weighing 200 lbs, but has 20 lbs of body fat, would consume 180 grms of protien if they are wanting to put on muscle. Having been there, done that, its not easy to consume "too much" protien..  

  4. there is defiantly a limit on how much protein you can have. make shore to limit the amount u have, it changes for all different protein powders. but general it shouldn't be a large problem just don't go over board. to much of anything can be bad for you, you just have to find the right amounts.
