Can you have a Virgin telephone and a BT telephone line both active in the same house?

Just wondered if you can have a contract with both bt on a normal phone socket as well as having cable points active for telephones in your house at the same time... just a question as im trying to work out thing regarding broadband and different people living here...

  1. You can have extra phone lines into your house and each one can be from whatever provider you choose.  Just take into account that each provider does NOT necessarily have their own exchange yet and may have to "rent" the line from BT, for example, anyway.  That in turn does not necessarily make the overall contract cheaper.  Tho if you have other lodgers/family in the house and want a separate line for separate bills then I guess it's a good way to go...tho not cheaper overall.


  2. Yes certainly you can have both cable and a BT line into your house, which would give you plenty of alternatives if you found problems with any of the service providers.

    Remember that it is only a BT maintained line, and you can use any provider you wish.
