  1. only for liquids when measuring stuff like sugar go by lbs.

  2. yes you can its a unit of measure

  3. of course you can.  Hawaiian is right but a cup of sugar is equas to an 8 ounce fluid measuring cup of sugar....as a container that holds 16 cups of dry ingredients (or a gallon) would hold (almost exactly) the same amount of sugar as a 16 liquid cup measure.

  4. Since sugar is normally measured as dry commodity, a gallon of sugar would equal a US dry gallon = 4.4049 liters.

Contrast this with the US liquid gallon; = 3.7854 liters.

    Also, 1 USGd = (1/8) bushel

  5. A gallon is a unit of volume.  Of course you can have a gallon of sugar.  However, all gallons of sugar may not be equal.  A one-gallon container would hold more fine-ground sugar than it would hold coarse-ground suger.

  6. Sure you can, though it is not usually measured that way.

There are 4 cups in a quart, and 4 quarts in a gallon. That means that a gallon of sugar is 16 cups.

Gallon is a measurement of volume and it doesn't matter what you are measuring -- liquid, solid, or gas.

  7. Im sure that you can measure sugar in gallons. May not be the best way to measure sugar.. but it is possible..
