Can you have a poison dart frog as a pet?

i think they are cool looking and i want one but i dont even know if u can buy them.

are they really poisonous? or are they just called that?

where can u buy one to have as a pet? (if u can even have one as a pet)

Yes but they're expensive to buy and can be difficult to keep alive.

They can be extremely toxic in their natural environment because their toxins are derived from their natural diet. Captive bred darts are not toxic and are routinely available. I would not consider them a beginner frog though, you might want to start with a larger, hardier species first.

Darts also require large amounts of very small food items like fruit flies and pinhead crickets which can be hard to obtain, depending on where you are.
