  1. You might be referred to consultants if you have a condition which necessitates the surgery - e.g. ptosis or a disfiguring condition. Anything which obscures or makes sight problematic may also be considered as necessitating surgery.

  2. This is generally a purely cosmetic procedure and is thus no longer available on the NHS. resources are limited and patients with serious and significant conditions often struggle to get treatment as it is.

  3. Not unless you current eyes are causing 'health threatening problem'. (which I have never heard of).  If its just cosmetic you have to go private.

  4. AS has been reported there is a significant difference between a cosmetic "eye-lift" and a functional blepharoplasty.  If there is a functional need which can be properly substantiated, then the procedure might be performed, but under most circumstances this is a purely elective procedure and is not a responsible use of NHS funding.

  5. NO pay for it yourself. I'm sick of people getting free money or things for free at the disadvantage of the rest of us!

  6. Definitely not . It is classed as cosmetic surgery . Therefore it is a private operation

  7. Yes, but only if it is causing a probem to your health. If you wish to have it done for cosmetic reasons you will normally have to pay for it.

Examples of cases where it may be done on the NHS are if the lid is covering the eye and therefore hindering vision, or if the one eye is different to the other eye and it is causing mental unrest.
