Can you have as many brokerage accounts as you want? With different brokerages?

Like one with E trade, and then one with Schwab, etc?

Yes you can have as many as you want.  It's considered wise to do so in case one broker has a problem & because of differences in services.

I have two brokers;

ThinkOrSwim  (TOS)

Interactive Brokers  (IB)

As far as I'm concerned TOS has the best platform and customer service. The graphs, webinars & other featurers are beyond compare.

IB has the best pricing..... I can buy 200 shares for $1.00, 500 shares for $2.50, 1000 shares for $5.00. Good execution and a poor platform and poor service.  I do about 15% of my trading through them.

ETrade has better pricing than Schwab... but Schwab has many more offerings & better service.
